Oh, wow! I never thought I'd find another cel of Gabriolis as a good angel once I was lucky enough to find one. Well... *sheepish grin*
What I find so interesting about this cel, aside from the lovely, tortured, angst of poor Gabriolis' expression, is that when paired with the other "good" Garbriolis cel it shows a very pivotal moment in this character's development in the show.
Gabriolis had been an angel of light during the war between good and evil. Wounded in battle, he fell to earth, and feeling himself to be abandoned by the forces of goodness and light, because vulnerable to the poisoned lies of Redda, one of the fallen angels.
The first good Gabriolis cel shows his pain, confusion, and a wounded sort of trust, while he is still good, and this one, the end of the sequence, shows his resolve to turn his back on goodness, cast off his white wings, and join the forces of evil.
